about

The 2nd half of the two-song love story, this time from the man's point of view.
A young woman elopes with a handsome stranger from her home in a small, rural Italian village. But he's only using her for money, and when that runs out, he breaks her heart, telling her to go home. But she cannot, because she has shamed herself and her family by running away. What she regards as 'her own shame' he sees as 'just her foolish pride.'

lyrics

Vs1
When I was a boy
I discovered the joy
Of living my life day-to-day
Now I’m a man
And I understand
That Life is just a game to play
Theres always a girls
Who’ll gimme a place to stay

Vs2
I dropped in your town
When I was down
On friends, luck money & food
That I could buy with a wink
I didn't care if no-one approved
It’s not in my power
To change their point of view

Vs3
So we got out of there
Just as soon as we dared
I bought the tickets with your Mama’s pearls
One hand on your waist and
One in your purse
I showed you a bit of the world
I was your man
And (for a little while) you were my girl

Chorus
We had a great time
And I didn’t mind
Havin’ you along for the ride
It wasn’t love
That we were thinking of
No need for you to cry
No question of blame
No matter of shame
No need for you to hide
It’s time to go
Cos’ you belong at home
It’s just your foolish pride (ooh, my pretty baby)

Vs4
It was a great fling
But like all good things
Our time together came to an end
I wanted to roam
So I sent you home
Now the money had run out again
And despite your fears
I’m sure we parted as friends

Chorus
We had a great time
And I didn’t mind
Havin’ you along for the ride
It wasn’t love
That we were thinking of
No need for you to cry
No question of blame
No matter of shame
No need for you to hide
It’s time to go
Cos’ you belong at home
It’s just your foolish pride (ooh, my pretty baby)

Keep them dancing.
That’s the ethos that The Rin Tins have kept since their inception in early 2011 and since then the sextet have strutted from one stage to another playing high octane gypsy swing to the party hard masses.
With music that combines 5 part harmonies with swing jazz rhythms and pounding oompa beats, for 7 years they've been filling dance floors & festival tents across the UK.
